Sandcastles / 2019
Sand: it alludes to time, but also to childhood, to play. The meeting of the materials: the wet sand and the old foam cushions, the wheels, wood and string is an absurdity, a comical moment.  But it is also fragile, teetering on collapse. As the work is displayed, the character of the wet sand changes character as it dries; it solidifies, goes hard and finally it starts cracking.
